FlashPunk is a middleware game library written in Actionscript for the development of Flash games by ChevyRay. It was created as an alternative to Adam Atomic's framework Flixel and, like it, is for developing Flash games without having to use the Adobe Flash IDE. It was based heavily on Game Maker's scripting language, so may be appealing to people transitioning to Flash from Game Maker. Version 1.0 of FlashPunk was released as of May 2010.
An alternative is Flixel, by Adam Saltsman
